web scraping tools, Web Scraper Cloud, scraping costs, residential proxies, anti-bot protection
For recurring product catalogues, marketplace listings, property data and business directories, Web Scraper Cloud is our best-value starting point. It combines managed anti-bot handling with structured extraction, scheduled collection and delivery in one platform.
Residential proxy pricing is one of the first things to compare. A low subscription price can become a substantial operating bill when a protected scraping job transfers hundreds of gigabytes. This guide compares eight tools by their access capabilities, billing models and the work needed to deliver a usable dataset.
Compare residential proxy costs before choosing a platform
Web Scraper Scale publishes residential proxies at $2.50/GB. Apify's published residential rates are $8/GB on Starter, $7.50/GB on Scale and $7/GB on Business, with custom Enterprise pricing.
Consider an illustrative workload of one million URL loads averaging 200 KB of billed residential traffic each. Using decimal units, that is 200 GB. This is a shared calculation assumption, not a measured page size or a prediction for your website.
| Separately billed residential route | Published rate | Proxy cost per 1,000 assumed URL loads | Proxy cost per 1 million assumed URL loads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web Scraper Scale add-on | $2.50/GB | $0.50 | $500 |
| Apify Starter | $8/GB | $1.60 | $1,600 |
| Apify Scale | $7.50/GB | $1.50 | $1,500 |
| Apify Business | $7/GB | $1.40 | $1,400 |
Even at Apify Business's lower public residential rate, the bandwidth component is 2.8 times Web Scraper's, a $900 difference in this example.
Web Scraper Scale starts at $200/month for concurrent scraping capacity. If that capacity completes the assumed workload within the month, capacity plus residential traffic totals $700. Unlimited URL credits do not guarantee that any particular volume of difficult pages will finish within the starting capacity. Web Scraper's pricing separates the capacity purchase from residential usage.
Apify Business's $999 monthly payment is prepaid usage. It pays towards consumption, so it must not be added again on top of $1,400 of proxy usage. Separately charged compute, storage, transfer or Actor fees can increase the final cost, depending on the selected Actor's pricing.
The gap grows with traffic. At an assumed 1 MB per URL, one million loads generate 1,000 GB: $2,500 in Web Scraper residential charges versus $7,000 on Apify Business. Those are proxy components, before capacity or other applicable charges.
Measure billed traffic during a real run. Apify's residential documentation specifically warns that automated browsers loading large files can quickly consume traffic allowances. Different implementations may transfer different amounts of data, even when they collect the same fields. One URL can also produce many records, so these figures are not prices per output record.
The best web scraping tools for anti-bot protection at a glance
Prices checked 19 October 2026. All figures are USD with monthly billing. The recommendations assess documented capabilities and costs; they are not an independently measured bypass-success ranking.
| Tool | Reference monthly offer | Relevant access billing | Strongest fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web Scraper Cloud | Scale starts at $200 | Included US datacentre access; residential add-on $2.50/GB | Recurring structured datasets with managed anti-bot handling |
| Apify | Business: $999 prepaid usage | Residential $7/GB; Unblocker advertised at $1/1,000 requests | Ready-made Actors and custom cloud programs |
| Bright Data Web Unlocker | Scale: $499, including 383,000 requests | $1.30/1,000 additional successful requests | Managed page access for an existing application |

| Zyte API | $500 minimum commitment | Browser base rates $0.48–$7.68/1,000 responses, depending on target tier | Site-specific access selection |
| ScrapingBee | Enterprise 120: $5,799 for 120 million credits | Premium with JavaScript: 25 credits; stealth with JavaScript: 75 | Configurable API access and extraction |
| ZenRows | Scale S5: $2,999 for 45 million credits | Fetch with JavaScript and premium proxies: 25 credits | Shared-credit access and browser workflows |
| ScraperAPI | Advanced: $1,975; currently 21.5 million credits with a limited bonus | Premium with rendering: 25 credits; ultra-premium with rendering: 75; domain costs vary | Domain-aware APIs and supported structured endpoints |
These offers buy different combinations of capacity, bandwidth and page retrieval. Request-priced unlockers can include access handling within the request charge; raw residential traffic is a different billing unit. Compare the configuration that works on your target and the extraction work still required.
1. Web Scraper Cloud: best value for recurring structured datasets
Web Scraper Cloud handles anti-bot protection through managed CAPTCHA handling, proxy management and automatic retries. Its published capabilities also cover many Cloudflare Turnstile-protected websites, with compatibility depending on the specific target.
For a team collecting prices every morning or maintaining a property feed, that access handling belongs to a larger workflow. The useful result is a consistent table delivered on schedule, with the right fields attached to each product or listing.
Build and test a sitemap in the free Web Scraper extension, using AI-assisted setup or visual selectors. The sitemap defines navigation and extraction, including pagination and detail-page visits. Move the tested sitemap into Cloud for remote execution. For supported sources, the Sitemap Marketplace provides maintained, ready-made configurations.
Scale combines unlimited URL credits with capacity priced by concurrent scrapers. Start with included datacentre access where it works, and use the residential proxy configuration when the target or required location needs it. The lower residential rate can make a substantial difference to ongoing volume.
Choose the execution mode deliberately. FullJS runs JavaScript and supports clicks, scrolling and page-state setup. Fast extracts returned HTML without executing page JavaScript and suits compatible sitemaps. Browser interactions and waiting time affect the capacity needed to finish a job.
Cloud adds scheduling, API-triggered jobs, parsing and automated delivery. Its data-quality controls can flag low record counts, excessive failed pages or required fields that stop filling.
Choose Web Scraper when the requirement is a recurring business dataset and the team wants managed execution with visible extraction logic. Initial sitemap configuration is still required. Its API runs an existing sitemap, and it is not the default choice for social networks, LinkedIn or large behind-login projects.
2. Apify: best for ready-made Actors and custom cloud programs
Apify is useful when a maintained Actor already matches the target or developers need custom collection logic. The exact program determines its navigation, output, maintenance and anti-bot configuration.
Residential proxies are one access route. Apify also offers Unblocker, advertised on Business at $1 per 1,000 requests, or $1,000 per million, before other separately billed resources. That can change the economics when it supports the workflow. Its documentation states that Unblocker does not provide the residential service's persistent-session parameter.
Check the Actor's inclusions before calculating a total. Some event-priced Actors include platform usage; others charge resources separately. Adding a separate proxy estimate to an inclusive result price would double-count costs.
Choose Apify for a well-matched Actor or code-level flexibility. For large, separately billed residential runs, its $7–$8/GB public rates deserve particular scrutiny. The Web Scraper and Apify comparison examines the wider operating models.
3. Bright Data Web Unlocker: best for managed page access
Bright Data Web Unlocker manages proxy selection, browser fingerprints, CAPTCHA challenges and retries through an API or proxy interface. It suits teams that already maintain extraction code and want to replace the access layer.
Its pay-as-you-go price is $1.50 per 1,000 successful requests, or $1,500 per million. Under the Scale offer shown in the table, one million requests calculate to $1,301.10: $499 plus 617,000 additional requests at $1.30 per thousand.
Check the product boundary. Web Unlocker returns target content; its JSON envelope is not automatically a parsed product dataset. For scripted browser actions such as clicking and scrolling, Bright Data directs customers to its separate Browser API.
Choose it when managed page retrieval is the missing component in an existing application.
4. Oxylabs Web Unblocker: best for a proxy-like integration
Oxylabs Web Unblocker offers managed fingerprints, CAPTCHA handling, retries and JavaScript rendering through a proxy-like endpoint. It also supports browser instructions for interactions that load dynamic content.
This makes it relevant when the scraper's extraction logic already works and the access layer needs replacing. The output is raw HTML rather than parsed business records, so extraction remains part of your system.
Its billing differs from per-request services. The Flexible offer lists $4.80/GB with a $500 monthly payment and up to 104 GB. Its FAQ states that both upstream and downstream traffic count, while failed scraping attempts are excluded from traffic usage.
Choose it when proxy-style integration suits your existing code. Measure successful traffic and obtain the appropriate allowance or quote before extrapolating beyond the advertised plan.
5. Zyte API: best for site-specific access selection
Zyte API selects access technology and prices websites across five HTTP tiers and five browser tiers. A compatible HTTP job can therefore have a different cost from a browser-rendered collection.
At the $500 monthly commitment, browser base rates range from $0.48 to $7.68 per 1,000 responses. Multiplying those rates gives $480–$7,680 of base usage per million responses. This is arithmetic, not a purchasable all-inclusive quote: the $500 minimum applies, additional features can cost more, and spend above standard account limits requires an enterprise arrangement.
Extraction, browser actions and certain residential or geolocation configurations can add charges. Price the actual target and required features rather than applying the lowest advertised HTTP rate to a protected browser workload.
Choose Zyte when developers want adaptive access and can evaluate site-specific pricing.
6. ScrapingBee: best for configurable API access
ScrapingBee combines managed browsers and proxies with JavaScript scenarios and extraction options. Its relevant credit weights are 25 for premium proxies with JavaScript and 75 for stealth with JavaScript.
At the Enterprise 120 offer in the table, allocating the entire allowance to premium-rendered requests gives about $1.21 per 1,000, or $1,208 per million. Stealth gives about $3.62 per 1,000, or $3,624 per million. These are allocated unit costs; the monthly plan payment remains $5,799.
Auto-Mode can try progressively more expensive configurations and charge for the one that succeeds. A maximum-cost setting limits escalation. The application still needs to supply any target-specific waits or interaction instructions.
Choose it for a developer-owned pipeline that needs explicit control over rendering and access modes. Confirm the successful mode before turning a credit allowance into a page estimate.
7. ZenRows: best for flexible shared-credit workflows
ZenRows shares credits across Fetch, Extract, Crawl, Batch and Browser Sessions. Fetch with JavaScript and premium proxies costs 25 credits per successful request.
Fully allocating Scale S5's 45 million credits to that mode gives about $1.67 per 1,000 requests, or $1,666.11 per million. The monthly payment remains $2,999. For exactly one million such requests, the smaller S4 offer provides 28 million credits for $1,999/month.
Standalone residential proxies use a separate consumption rate of 25,000 credits per GB. At S5, spending the entire allowance on bandwidth produces an effective $1.67/GB, below Web Scraper's residential rate, with the $2,999 monthly payment. That buys proxy bandwidth; a complete collection still needs execution and extraction. Browser Sessions also charge for session time.
Choose ZenRows when its access products and shared credit mix fit your application. Keep standalone bandwidth, Fetch requests and browser sessions separate in the estimate.
8. ScraperAPI: best for domain-aware API costing
ScraperAPI provides managed proxies, JavaScript rendering, anti-bot handling and retries, alongside structured endpoints and pipeline options.
Its actual credit cost depends on the domain and requested parameters. Documentation lists premium access with rendering at 25 credits and ultra-premium with rendering at 75; specialised domains and protection handling also affect the charge.
Use the URL-cost lookup or playground to establish the cost for representative URLs. Responses report the request's credit cost, helping you compare the estimate with actual consumption.
The Advanced allowance in the table includes a limited promotion. Confirm the ongoing allowance before treating it as a permanent unit-cost advantage.
Choose it when a supported structured endpoint or domain-specific access route matches an existing application. Check the product and billable configuration before estimating a large run.
Test the cost of a complete recurring job
Run the final two candidates on the same permitted workload, including listings, detail pages, later pagination, required locations and browser interactions. Record four things:
- Correct output: the expected records, field relationships, region and currency.
- Working access mode: datacentre, residential, rendering or a premium configuration.
- Billed usage: traffic, credits or requests, plus separately charged resources.
- Completion time: whether the purchased capacity meets the refresh deadline.
Repeat the run before extrapolating to production. A completed request can still return the wrong page or incomplete fields; why 200 OK can return no useful data explains what to check. The CAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile guide covers target compatibility in more detail.
For recurring structured datasets, start with Web Scraper Cloud. Its managed anti-bot capabilities, integrated collection workflow and lower residential rate than Apify's separately billed service make it a compelling value choice. A dedicated access API can suit teams that already maintain the rest of the pipeline.
